Favourable Conditions For Formation Of Diamond From Graphite

There is a saying, that "Diamonds are a girl's best friend".

Diamonds' beautiful and rare crystalline structure used in jewellries, crystal and glass cutting, etc. They are made of a single element—they are nearly 100% carbon.

Diamonds are the hardest natural stone on earth. They are naturally formed and brought to the Earth’s surface through volcanic activity.

Graphite is thermodynamically the most stable allotrope of carbon.

Do you know that the diamonds can also be formed by graphite?

Compared to the density of graphite, the diamond has a greater density and at high pressures, the diamond becomes denser due to the increase in volume.

The high temperature and high pressure are favourable conditions for the formation of diamonds from graphite.
