Explained: Reaction Of Dilute Sulphuric Acid With Zinc Granules

Zinc is more reactive than Hydrogen. Hence, zinc displaces the hydrogen from the acid to form zinc sulphate and hydrogen gas.

The chemical reaction that represents the reaction of dilute H2SO4 with Zn is given as:

Hydrogen is a combustible gas and hence it burns with a popping sound.

Sulphuric acid is a viscous liquid that is colourless and odourless.

Dilute sulphuric acid is an acid formed when a large amount of water is added to the concentrated sulphuric acid.

Zinc is a chemical element that is a slightly brittle metal at room temperature.
