Chemistry Concept: Boyle's Law Explanation, Formula and Examples

BY Team Aakash Byju's

Boyle's law states that the volume of a gas at constant temperature varies inversely proportional to the pressure applied to the gas.

Boyel’s law

Boyel’s law was proposed by Robert Boyel’s in 1662.

According to this law, the pressure (P) and volume (V) are inversely proportional when a constant amount of gas is placed at a constant temperature.

P1 and V1 are starting pressure and volume of gas. P2 and V2 are the pressure and volume of the gas after the change.

Examples We can breathe in and breathe out the air due to Boyle's law.

Examples A syringe works based on Boyle's law.

Examples We can blow air into balloons due to Boyle's law.

Examples We can pump the air based on Boyle's law.

Examples Deep-sea fishes can breathe underwater because of Boyle's law
