CBSE Term 2 Revision Notes: Class 12 Maths Continuity and Differentiability

Here are some notes on ‘Continuity and Differentiability’ that you need to revise before you appear for the Class 12 Maths Term 2 Exam.

The definition of Continuity at a Point and Continuity in an Interval and some quick points are:

– Every identity function is      continuous – Every rational function is      continuous – Every constant function is      continuous

– Every polynomial function      is continuous – In their domain, all      trigonometric functions      are continuous.

There are some standard results of Limits, list them and revise them. Also do a detailed study on ‘Algebra of Continuous Functions’.

Don’t skip some quick points on topics like - Differentiability and Differentiation.

There are some rules of differentiation, list them and learn them thoroughly. They are

The next important topics are - Logarithmic Differentiation and Differentiation of Functions in Parametric Form.

Note that dy/dx can be expressed in terms of parameter only without directly involving the main variables x and y.

Read about Second order derivative and try finding second order derivative for some example questions.

List out all the standard derivatives and memorise them well. They will help in resolving complicated problems.

Two important theorems in this chapter are Rolle’s Theorem and Mean Value Theorem. You may have to practise some examples using these theorems.

Finally, memorise the useful substitutions for finding derivatives of expressions.

Don’t you think these notes look extremely helpful? Why not share these with your friends?
