CBSE Physics Concept Note:

Top 5 Examples of Tension Force

A tension, in physics, is a pulling force in a rope, string, or cable when stretched under an external force.

Tension acts or transmits axially along the length of a rope/string/cable.

- It acts in the opposite  direction of the applied  force. - Tension is measured in  newtons. Sometimes, the  unit of Tension is pounds-  force.

- The rope and chains are  used in towing a car.  - The chain that is pulled  transfers the tension force  to the attached vehicle.

Examples of Tension Force:

Water extraction from the well using a bucket & a pulley is another example of tension forces.

For weighing equipment when lifted in the air, a tension force plays a major role in balancing the quantities.

Tension force is useful in fitness services. Gym equipment like Lat Pulldown Machine, resistance band, etc…

Chloroform(CHCl3)

The tension force is required to lift the objects in a crane. Crane has a long chain  and a pulley.

The tension force used in a crane plays a vital role in the industrial world.
