BY Team Aakash Byju's

Reproduction is the formation of new organisms through sexual and asexual action.

Reproduction

Sexual reproduction is a process that includes a combination of germ cells.

Sexual Reproduction

Asexual reproduction is a method that doesn’t involve the union of male and female reproductive cells.

Asexual Reproduction:

Asexual reproduction are of different kinds. These include: - Fission: Unicellular organisms break into two or many offspring. Example: Amoeba, bacteria.

Types of Asexual Reproduction:

A growth on the parent's body as a bud grows to form a new organism. Example: Yeast, Hydra

Budding

Production of new organisms from fragments of a parent. Example: Flatworm, tapeworm.

Fragmentation

Production of a new organism from the unfertilized ovum. Example: Honey bees, ants.

Parthenogenesis

Ability of organisms to give rise to new organisms. Example: Planaria, hydra.

Regeneration

- Some organisms are capable of producing spores. - These spores germinate to develop into a new organism. Example: Fungi, fern, mosses.

Spore Formation

Production of new plants from leaves, stems and roots.

Vegetative Propagation

New plants are formed naturally. Example: Bryophyllum, onion, potato.

Natural Vegetative Propagation

New plants are produced with human involvement. It includes cutting, layering and grafting. Example: Rose and mango.
