BY Team Aakash Byju's

The female reproductive system comprises four main parts. These include the uterus, ovary, fallopian tubes and vagina.

Fallopian tubes are a pair of tubes that carry ova from the ovaries to the uterus.

Fallopian Tubes

There are a pair of fallopian tubes present in the female reproductive system.

These narrow muscular tubes extend from the top of the uterus to the ovaries.

Fallopian Tube Parts: The fallopian tube has mainly three parts. These include the isthmus, ampulla and infundibulum.

Isthmus

It is located next to the fallopian tube opening into the uterus. It connects to the ampulla that curves over the ovary. It is the common site of fertilization.

It is the widest part of the fallopian tube where fertilization occurs.

Ampulla

It receives the egg and allows it to the fallopian tube.

Infundibulum

Fallopian tubes allow passage to the fertilized egg back to the uterus for implementation.

Functions of the Fallopian Tube

It transports sperm towards the egg.
