Explain the Difference

What Is Myopia and Hypermetropia?

The eye is a living optical device. It is a sense organ that is responsible for the sense of vision.

Eye

If the lens is not curved, light rays will not refract properly. So refractive errors may occur in the eye.

Difference Between Myopia and Hypermetropia

These refractive errors are of two types. These include Myopia and Hypermetropia

Myopia is caused by the refraction of light rays incorrectly, focusing images in front of the retina instead of on the retina.

Myopia is also known as nearsightedness. Myopia is a vision condition in which a person can see objects near to them clearly, but objects further away are blurry.

Eyeglasses or contact lenses can cure it, and in some cases, it may require surgery.

Hypermetropia is when the eye is shorter than normal, or the cornea is too flat, which means light rays focus behind the retina.

Hypermetropia

It is also known as longsightedness.

Hypermetropia is a vision condition in which one can see objects far from them but can't see things near them.

Hypermetropia can be cured by using glasses or contact lenses and, in mild cases, by laser surgery.
