The Symptoms of Thyroid Problems in Females.

The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland located on the neck, which secretes various hormones.

Thyroid Gland:

It secretes different types of hormones into the blood. These hormones regulate many body functions such as body metabolism, growth and development.

Functions of the Thyroid gland:

When the thyroid gland secretes too much or too little hormone, it is called ‘thyroid disease’.

Thyroid diseases:

Thyroid diseases include hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's.

Hypothyroidism:  Generally, Hypothyroidism is caused by less secretion of thyroid hormone.

Thyroid problems in females:

Fatigue, sensitivity to cold, weight gain, puffy face, constipation and dry skin.

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism in Females:

Hypothyroidism also causes irregular menstrual periods.

It is caused when the thyroid gland secretes excess hormone.

Hyperthyroidism in females:

Weight gain, abnormal heartbeat, nervousness, feeling hot, enlarged thyroid gland, sweating etc.

Symptoms of  Hyperthyroidism in Females:

– Changes in the menstrual   cycle such as lighter flow   or less frequent periods. –Thyroid problems can    cause puberty and    menstruation to occur    abnormally or late.

Sometimes thyroid problems may stop menstrual periods. This condition is called Amenorrhea.

It is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the thyroid gland.

Hashimoto's:

Weight gain, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, depression, difficulty in getting pregnant and irregular or heavy menstrual periods.

Symptoms of Hashimoto's in Females:
