Terrestrial habitats are classified into four categories.
In terrestrial animals, adaptation to the land environment is referred to as Terrestrial Adaptation.
Adaptation of terrestrial animals can be classified into three categories:
– Structural – Physiological – Behavioral
Adaptations are associated with the physical characteristics of an animal, such as a bear's fur.
Ex: Giraffes have a long neck that allows them to access food.
It is an internal body process that regulates and maintains homeostasis in order for an animal to survive in its environment.
Ex: The thick skin and fur of animals help to protect them from the cold and prevent heat loss.
It can be defined as the actions that animals take in order to live.
Ex: A tiger moving into a dense jungle since it is where the majority of the animals live is.
