Numerical Taxonomy:
Assigning a code to each character of the plant and analyzing the features with the help of a computer.
Cyto Taxonomy:Classification of plants based on cellular information like chromosome number, structure etc.
Chemotaxonomy:
Classification of plants based on their chemical composition.
Plant kingdom- groups:Divided into two groups based on the flowering and formation of seeds.Cryptogamae and phanerogamae.
Cryptogamae:
These are non-flowering plants that can not produce seeds.
Types of Cryptogamae: Cryptogamae is divided into three groups. ThallophytaBryophytaPteridophyta
Thallophyta: These are simple plants with undifferentiated bodies known as thallus. Generally, these plants are known as algae.
Bryophyta: Non-vascular plants grow in damp places, but they are land plants. But they depend on water for reproduction.Examples: Marchantia and Funaria.
Pteridophyta: These are seedless vascular plants that have sporophytic plant body gametophyte.Examples: Fern, Selaginella and Salvinia.
Phanerogamae: These are flowering plants. These plants can produce seeds. Phanerogamae is divided into two groups. GymnospermsAngiosperms
Gymnosperms:
Plants in which seeds are not enclosed in fruits, Ovules are not enclosed in the ovary and remain exposed after fertilisation. Examples: Pines, Cycus, etc.
Angiosperms: Seeds are enclosed in fruits. Angiosperms are categorised into two groups.
MonocotsDicots
Monocots: Monocots have a fibrous root system, parallel venation and one cotyledon in the seed. Example: Rice, Wheat, Maize.
Dicots:
Dicots have a taproot system, reticulate venation and two cotyledons in the seed. Example: Mango, Bean, Hibiscus.
