Categories And Features Of Kingdom Monera, Protista And Fungi

The three sub-kingdoms of the Monera kingdom are: Archaebacteria, Eubacteria and Cyanobacteria.

In monerans, there is no membrane-bound nucleus. They exist in both aerobic and anaerobic environments.

Monerans lack organelles like mitochondria, lysosomes, plastids, Golgi bodies, endoplasmic reticulum, centrosome, etc.

They obtain food in a variety of ways, like autotrophic, heterotrophic, parasitic or saprophytic mechanisms.

They reproduce asexually through binary fission.

The kingdom of Protista is divided into three groups: Plant-like Protists, Fungi-like Protists and Animal-like Protists.

Protistas are mostly aquatic and can be found in the soil or other moist regions.

They have multiple organelles that include a nucleus, mitochondria, plastids, food vacuoles and flagella.

Protistas may be autotrophic or heterotrophic in nature. They are capable of both sexual and asexual reproduction.

Fungi are based on: -Saprohytic -Parasitic

Fungi are mainly classified on two bases:

-Phycomycetes -Ascomycetes -Basidiomycetes -Deuteromycetes

Based on Spore formation-

They are eukaryotic and non-vascular organisms.

Chloroplasts are absent in fungi, which prevents them from performing photosynthesis.

Fungi are capable of both sexual and asexual reproduction. There is no embryonic stage in the fungi. They grow from spores.
