Bryophytes vs Pteridophytes vs Gymnosperms - Difference

Bryophytes are the most primitive type of plant, which includes mosses and liverworts.

Pteridophytes are plants that grow in moist and shady conditions, such as ferns.

Gymnosperms are  seed-bearing plants that include cycads and conifers.

One of the basic differences is that in Bryophytes, Gametophytic generation is dominant but in Pteridophytes and Gymnosperms, Sporophytic generation dominates.

Vascular tissues are absent in Bryophytes but in Pteridophytes and Gymnosperms, vascular tissues are present.

Bryophytes and Pteridophytes require external water for fertilization and Gymnosperms do not.

Bryophytes and Pteridophytes are flagellated in contrast Gymnosperms are non flagellated.

Seeds are absent in Bryophytes and Pteridophytes but present in Gymnosperms.

Bryophytes are homosporous, Pteridophytes are both homosporous and heterosporous and Gymnosperms are heterosporous.
