Since Russia won the war, several Soviet countries like Belarus and Serbia celebrate Victory Day.

Even today, on Victory Day, European nations consider it a public holiday.

During WWII, more than 8 million Soviet soldiers died. So, to remember their sacrifice, Russia celebrates this day.

It is also celebrated since the Nazis surrendered to the Soviet Union in 1945.
