JEE Advanced is certainly a tough nut to crack, and aspirants tend to make some puerile mistakes while preparing for it. These mistakes can terribly affect their score and ranking while becoming a hurdle between their dream of studying in an IIT. From scrutinizing the JEE Advanced exam pattern intensively to having a strategic planning according to the present selection format, the aspirants need to keep in mind all the major aspects, as ignoring any of them can cost their grades.
Here are certain points that every student needs to keep in mind to avoid last-minute mistakes before JEE Advanced 2023:
Pulling an all-nighter
Getting adequate sleep is enough while preparing for something as touch as JEE Advanced. Especially, the day before the examination. However, many aspirants make this mistake of pulling an all-nighter the day before the exam. Less or disturbed sleep results in fatigue and directly affects the brain’s focusing power. Pulling an all-nighter can put you in a dangerous situation wherein you will start feeling sleepy while taking the examination. Instead, follow the same study pattern you have been following since months and don’t stress your brain by staying up all night long.
Doubting Your Preparation
At the last minute, it would be of no good to crib about what all you did not do while preparing for the examination. The time is to stay positive and confident about your preparation process as doubting yourself would make you fall deep in the pit of confusion and frustration. Also, it can severely hamper your concentration while taking up the examination.
Avoiding Breakfast on the Day of the Examination
Breakfast is undoubtedly the most important meal of the day and skipping it can cost you more than what you think. A power packed breakfast on the day of the examination increases the brain power and gives you a confident approach. Make sure you have eggs, Greek Yogurt, and whole grain carbohydrates in your platter for sustained mental energy. Many studies have shown that students who had a healthy breakfast on the day of the examination performed much better than those who didn’t. So, make sure you don’t skip this important meal of the day
Indulging in Intense Workout
Working out is good but indulging in an intense workout on the D-day may lead to physical strain and hamper your focus during the examination. The JEE advanced exam pattern is already taxing and an intense workout a day before would make you feel lethargic and lead to stress. Instead, go for low-impact physical activities like brisk walking and yoga that won’t put much strain on your body
Caffeine Overdose
Have coffee on the examination day only when you are used to it. The sudden dose of caffeine in your system can make you nervous and jittery. However, if you are used to it, make sure you stick to just one cup on the examination day. Too much caffeine in the system can disrupt your focus and lead to stress. So, stick to what your body is habitual of. The final day is not the day to experiment.
The Bottom Line
Avoid the mistakes mentioned above, and you will surely be able to excel with flying colors in the JEE Advanced examination. All you need to do is to trust yourself, your preparation and don’t indulge in something new and you inevitably move a step closer to your dream of studying in an IIT. All the best!
