    JEE Mains Exam

    The Joint Entrance Examination is conducted all over India by the National Testing Agency for admission in the IITs and NITs of the country in the engineering stream. This exam is conducted in different sessions every year and offers admission to premier technical and engineering institutions of India, such as the Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology, based on the candidate’s ranks.

    JEE Main 2022 Admit Card Release

    The JEE April Session has shifted to June according to the new public notice released on 6th April 2022. The revised dates for the June session are  23 to 29 June 2022.

    The registration dates for the June session are closed, but candidates wanting to write the JEE can still appear in the second session, the schedule of which will be released soon by the NTA. 

    How to Download JEE Main Admit Card?

    The JEE Admit card will soon be available for download on the official website of the National Testing Agency. You can expect the JEE Admit Cards to be released in the second week of June. Candidates must enter their application number and date of birth to download their respective admit cards. The admit card/hall ticket will contain all the important information regarding the JEE, like Date, Venue, Time, Application number, and other details of the candidate.

    Follow the steps to download the JEE Mains admit card:

    Step 1: Visit the official website of NTA.

    Step 2: Click on the portal showing sign-in or log-in option.

    Step 3: Insert your credentials and log in to the portal.

    Step 4: Your admit card will be shown on the screen. 

    Step 5: Download the admit card and take a printout of the same. Keep it safe with you for future reference. 

    Step 6: Check all the details thoroughly mentioned in the admit card. If any of the information is incorrectly printed on the admit card, do not hesitate to contact the authorities. 

    What to do in case of wrong information present on the admit card?

    If your JEE Mains admit card has wrong information printed on it, then you must follow the steps mentioned below:

    Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE, i.e. jeemain.nta.nic.in. 

    Step 2: Look for the ‘Contact Us’ option in the menu bar on the website. 

    Step 3: Search for the number and email ID you want to make the complaint in your region. 

    Step 4: Mail the doubts regarding the incorrect information present in the admit card to the JEE Main officials.

    Step 5: If the discrepancy has occurred from their side, it will be corrected before the exam day. If the problem has occurred due to incorrect information from your end, then you might not be allowed to appear in the exam. 

    Details to check in the JEE Mains admit card

    After you have downloaded the JEE Mains admit card, make sure to check the following details:

    1. Your name spelling
    2. Your father’s name/mother’s name
    3. Exam hall
    4. Exam date
    5. Subject name
    6. Year of appearing in the exam
    7. Your photograph and signature are correct or not
    8. The instructions are properly given
    9. The seal/signature of the JEE authorities

    If there is any discrepancy in the details mentioned above in your JEE Mains admit card, contact the officials earliest.

    Important points to remember while visiting the exam hall

    Make sure to keep all your documents handy while appearing for the exam. The NTA requires candidates to bring their documents for verification. These include:

      • Aadhar Card
      • Pan Card
      • Passport
      • Voter Card
      • Bank Passbook
      • Driving Licence
      • Birth Certificate 
      • Ration Card

    Any two of the documents mentioned above are sufficient for the verification process. 

    • Candidates must reach their exam centres at the allotted reporting time to avoid any last-minute delay and hassle. 
    • Candidates are not allowed to carry any electronic devices like phones, watches or calculators in the examination hall. 
    • It is advised to wear masks and carry your sanitisers for extra precautions. The centres won’t provide any masks.

    1. When is the JEE Exam going to be held this year? 

    The Joint Entrance Examination will be held in two sessions. These are in the months of June and July. The dates for the first session have been postponed from April to June. The National Testing Agency has recently issued a public notice with the revised schedule. Registrations for the June Session have been closed, but candidates who want to write the JEE can still register for the July sessions, the dates of which will be announced soon. 

    2. How many times can a candidate appear for the  JEE exam?

    The JEE will be conducted in two sessions: June and July. There is no age limit according to which a candidate can appear in the JEE. Also, the exam will be held two times a year, and students can appear in the exam twice. Candidates can also appear in JEE Main for three consecutive years from the year of passing their class 12 exam.

    3. What are the eligibility criteria for writing JEE?

    The eligibility criteria for JEE Mains are as follows:

    • The candidates should have passed the 12th class or qualified for the exam in 2020 or 2021.
    • Students appearing in 12th class board exams or equivalent qualifying exams in 2022 can also apply. 
    • There is no age limit for writing JEE. 
    • Another criterion is qualifying certain subjects: 
      • B.E/B.Tech: The candidate should have passed the qualifying exam in Physics, Mathematics, and any of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subjects).
      • B.Arch: The candidate should have passed the qualifying exam in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. 
      • B.Plan: The candidate should have passed the qualifying exam in Mathematics.

    4. What is the mode of JEE Main?

    The JEE Main is conducted twice every year in an online and offline mode. It is a computer-based test for the Maths and aptitude section and a pen-paper-based test for the drawing and planning section. The exam goes for three hours.

    5. What is the exam pattern for JEE Main this year?

    The JEE Main is both an objective and subjective type exam and includes Multiple Choice Questions and numericals. The duration is 3 hours.

    PAPER 1: B.E/B.Tech (Computer-based) 

    There are three sections: 

    • Maths:  30 questions
    • Physics:  30 questions
    • Chemistry: 30 questions

    90 MCQs (25 are compulsory from each section) 

    10 Numericals (5 are compulsory from each section) 

    Total Marks: 300

    PAPER 2: B.Arch / B.Plan

    B.Arch (Paper 2A): 82 Questions (Computer-based) 

    • Mathematics
    • Aptitude test
    • Drawing test (Pen-paper Based) 

    B.Plan (Paper 2B): 105 Questions  (Computer-based) 

    • Mathematics
    • Aptitude test
    • Planning test (MCQs)

    Total marks: 400

    NOTE: The marking scheme of the exam includes negative marking of (-1) for every incorrect answer. For every correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded. 

    6. What is the language/medium of the JEE?

    The JEE is conducted in 13 different languages. These are:

    • English 
    • Hindi
    • Tamil
    • Telugu
    • Malayalam 
    • Kannada
    • Punjabi
    • Gujarati
    • Marathi
    • Urdu
    • Assamese
    • Odia
    • Bengali

    The candidates can opt for any language of their choice. 

    7. What is the total number of seats for admission to engineering programs all over India?

    The total number of seats for admission in engineering courses is more than 40000. These seats are divided among IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. These institutes accept the JEE score and provide admission to students in the various engineering programs.

    8. How many Centres are there in India and abroad for JEE? 

    A8. The National Testing Agency has increased the number of centres for the JEE. In India, the number of centres is 501. 25 centres are abroad.
