    For the academic year 2021-22, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a new valuation scheme for CBSE Class 10 students. The complete examination is divided into two terms as per the new exam policy.

    CBSE conducted the Term 2 Board Exam from April 26 offline. The board has clearly said that the pattern of the exam will same as the sample papers released for Term 2. Therefore, students practice all the sample papers seriously to score well in the subjective exam.

    CLASS X CBSE Term- II Exam Pattern

    Section A: 7 Questions of 2 marks each
    Section B: 6 Questions of 3 Marks each
    Section C: 2 case-study questions of 4 marks each

    Section B: 4 questions of 3 marks each
    Section C: 4 case-study based questions of 4 marks each

    Section A: 6 Question no. 1 to 5 are very short answer type questions of 2 marks each. The answer to each question should do not exceed 40 words.
    Section B: Question no. 6 to 8 are short answer type questions, carrying 3 marks each. The answer to each question should not exceed 80 words.
    Section C: Question No. 9 and 10 are long answer-type questions, carrying 5 marks each. The answer to each question should not exceed 120 words.
    Section D: Question no. 11 and 12 are Case-Based questions.
    Section E: Question no. 13 is map-based, carrying 3 marks with two parts, 13.1 from History (1 mark) and 13.2 from Geography (2 marks).

    Section–A: Reading: Question no. 1 and 2 carry Ten Very short answer-type questions of 1 mark each. The answer to each question should not exceed 20-30 words.
    *Section–B: Writing & Grammar: Question no. 3 is a Long Answer type question, carrying 5 marks. The answer should not exceed 100-150 words. Question no. 4 and 5 carry Five Very short answer type questions of 1 mark each.
    *Section–C: Literature: Question no. 6 carries Six Short answer-type questions of 2 marks each. The answer to each question should not exceed 40-50 words. Question no. 7 carries Two Long answer-type questions, carrying 4 marks each. The answer to each question should not exceed 100-120 words.

    Note: If a situation arises due to any circumstances or rising cases in the Covid-19 pandemic, a 90-minute MCQ-based exam similar to the Term 1 Exam will be conducted.

    Internal Assessment Process for the Academic Year

    Internal assessment will be required of CBSE Class 10 students throughout the year, irrespective of terms I and II.

    The internal evaluation process will consist of the following:

    • Three Periodic Tests
    • Portfolio
    • Subject enrichment activities
    • Practical Work (for selective subjects)
    • Speaking listening activities (for language subjects)
    • Project Work

    CBSE Class 10 Grading System for Term 2

    Students are graded on a 9-point scale in the CBSE Class 10 exam. The term 10 grades are allotted based on both the formative and summative evaluation and relate to a range of marks. Here is a nine-point grading scale.

    A-1 Top 1/8th of the passed candidates
    A-2 Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
    B-1 Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
    B-2 Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
    C-1 Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
    C-2 Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
    D-1 Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
    D-2 Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
    E The student will be informed

    FAQs

    1. What are the passing marks in CBSE Class 10th?

    As per the latest exam updates, students must achieve a minimum of 33% in theory exams, practical, and internal assessments in order to pass the CBSE Class 10.

    2. What are the total marks in CBSE Class 10th?

    As per the latest CBSE exam pattern for Class 10, the theory papers will be 80 marks, while the internal assessment section will be 20 marks.

    3. Is whitener allowed in board exams and can we use a gel pen?

    Use of whitener is not permitted. Yes, Blue or royal blue ink gel pens can be used in the exam.

    4. Is it compulsory to write the answers in the same order as is mentioned in the question paper?

    No, you can attempt the questions in the order that you want. You may attempt those questions in the beginning which you know the best. Just make sure to give the correct question number to each answer provided.
