Aman is preparing for NEET 2021. He is quiet, likes to be alone, and gets uncomfortable working on group assignments and studies. He is not very responsive in the class, doesn’t ask questions and if asked to answer any question, his hesitation is on another level.

Aman’s characteristics are that of an introverted student. He is shy and hesitant while attending classes or whenever he is surrounded by a group of students. However, this doesn’t mean he is not serious about his preparation. He is equally determined to crack NEET 2021 but somehow, he gets stuck due to his introvert nature.

Preparing for entrance exams like IIT JEE and NEET is not easy. It requires a lot of hard work, consistency and determination. Introvert students like Aman need special attention from the teachers and parents in order to prepare well for these types of exams.

Such students are not comfortable interacting with teachers or students in school or coaching classes.

    The Reason?

They feel uncomfortable because of the presence of other students in the class. Questions like, “What if my question is inappropriate!”, “Will the class laugh at me?”, haunt their minds even when they gather all their strength to ask and respond in the class.

To make it very clear, there is nothing wrong with introverted students, it’s their personality and it’s absolutely fine to be an introvert.

The only thing required is the ‘Right’ guidance and means to help them learn their preferred way.

Ways that help introvert students to prepare without hesitation:

    • Online coaching is an effective option for introvert students where they can attend classes from the comfort of their homes. They can ask their doubts without worrying about how other students and teachers feel about them. This option will make them comfortable in their zone and they will learn things in the best possible style.
    • One-on-one learning sessions are beneficial. In absence of other students, they can ask questions without worrying about what others may think about them. 1 on 1 class will let them have the complete attention of the teacher and this way they can learn more efficiently.
    • Students like Aman don’t like to be compared to others. They learn best when assessed individually. Online test series for NEET 2021 or other entrance exams act as an ideal testing scenario and can be highly effective in such cases where students can compete with other aspirants on the national level without having to be physically present in a test hall.

    Role of Parents
Parents play the most important role here. In many cases, parents are not aware of the child’s introvert nature because he/she behaves normally at home and is being the same as he/she is. However, it’s important to keep a check on your child’s behavior and performance in the school and coaching class. This will help you identify and understand the personality of your child and take decisions based on that.

    Role of a Teacher
A teacher requires to pay special attention to introvert students. These students must not be forced to engage if they are not willing or able to. Teachers can talk to them in private regularly and ask them in case they have doubts or difficulty learning in the class.

    AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Please don’t tell them or don’t expect them to become extroverts!

As a parent or teacher, there’s no harm in teaching them the value of socializing and connecting with the extroverted world, but never force them to become an extrovert. They must never feel that Introversion is something bad and needs to be overcome. It’s their personality and it’s exactly who they are!
