Pursuing MBBS/BDS from Recognised Institutions

MBBS and BDS – two of the most sought-after bachelor degree courses in medicine can be pursued from any of the MCI (Medical Council of India) approved institutions. In 2013, CBSE conducted NEET, a common entrance exam, for medical colleges across India, wherein seats were allocated according to the rank secured by the candidates. However, in 2014, AIPMT was resumed which lasted only for two years and was again replaced by NEET in the year 2016. Besides NEET, AIIMS and JIPMER also conduct their own entrance tests for admissions to their colleges.

Elite institutions such as AIIMS, CMC-Vellore & Ludhiana, JIPMER, MGIMS-Wardha, Manipal-MAHE, AMU and AFMC are the preferred choices of a majority of students. These colleges are widely acknowledged for their history of excellent pedagogy, infrastructure and placements. However, qualifying these tests is a herculean task and one has to really work hard to get into these institutions.
Having a fair idea about the number of years a college has been in existence, lab facilities, student exchange programs and so on are some of the factors that could assist you in selecting the right college. Holistic recognition of institutions from every aspect must be the criteria for the selection of any institution for the pursuance of these courses. An elaborated list of government and private medical colleges is given on the top of this page for your reference.
